The tower of Cumston Hall was originally windowless, with a metal floor to keep the rain for getting in according to caretaker Buddy Floyd. But they learned quickly that wouldn't work, so they added the windows, said Floyd.

Suzy rests comfortably, tucked into warm blankets, in a quite place after her spying recently at Taylor Brook Animal Hospital in Auburn.  The first thing is safety, and then the second thing is healing, said Dr. Catherine Sanders, new owner of the practice.  Suzy will get a snack as soon as she is alert enough to eat, another dose of pain medication and then more pain meds for three days after.

Army Cpl. Andrew L. Hutchins, of New Portland, is laid to rest at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Friday after  his funeral service at the National Guard Armory in Augusta. Hutchins was killed in combat on Nov. 8, 2010, while serving in Khost province at a combat outpost in Sabari, Afghanistan.
